{{pre-note/layout;; K, this is the one where Kavic tells Kyn that Remus is a werewolf. Towards the end of this dissertation, I want Koran to come in and figure out that Kyndrick is pregnant with Remus' baby. That will start a different little battle with Koran and Kyndrick while Remus and Kavic have their own little fight. This is a key plot point, thus the "important" part, lol}}
&& here's the one where silly people say rash things that all will surely regret...
It was raining. Such an epic moment in history for these four teens and Kyndrick Laurent would surely remember that it was raining that day. She'd remember that way her hair was pulled back into a messy bun and the tiniest of strands stuck to her face and cheeks. She'd remember how the air was humid and despite the rain, there was still fog looming in the courtyard around her. She'd remember the plain brown dress she'd worn, how long it was and how it wrapped around her knees as she sat curled up in that little corner of the universe. She'd remember the pages of the book she'd been reading, stained with tears. She'd cried, of course. It was one of her favorites, Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Elizabeth Bennet seemed so lonely in that fleeting moment, the moment when she realized Mr. Darcy had so many reasons for all the things he'd done. She cried because she knew how Lizzy felt. She knew how stupid she'd have felt in that position.
She'd lay a delicate little bookmark between the pages when she heard their voices calling out. It was only Remus and Kavic striding through the rain towards the courtyard. What were they up to? It seemed almost as if they were racing to reach her. She closed her book and looked at the two through the weather with an eyebrow raised. She wiped away a last tear, it was invisible for the damp already resting on her face. It wasn't raining on her anymore, not now that she was beneath the shelter in the courtyard. She still glistened from ghost droplets though as she watched her two dear friends come closer. One was a man she loved, the other was a young man she'd become great friends with. Both looked alarmingly frustrated.
She waited for them to come closer. She had to know what was creasing their brows in such a manner as that. She leaned forward to start to get up. She wanted to hug Remus, make sure all was well. When would they finally make it to where she was?

Sometimes all the thingsI should have saidI hope it's not too lateI wanna make you understand He knew. It was that simple. Unfortunately, what he knew wasn't so simple. It was complicated. And who did he think he was to stick himself into problems that weren't even his own? And it was Kavic Elliot. Out of everyone in the entire world to know about Remus Lupin's 'furry little problem', it had to be Kavic Elliot. Of course. Someone upstairs was having a little too much fun playing the let's-screw-with-Remus'-life game. And they were winning.
But he had to understand. Why couldn't he understand? There was a reason he hadn't told Kyndrick. Of course there was a reason. Fear, hurt, insecurity? The list was full. Besides it wasn't as if he had never tried to tell her. Yes, he'd tried. Obviously not hard enough, but he'd tried nontheless. Maybe Kavic didn't understand because he was afraid. Obviously, he had never realized he'd been sharing a dorm room with a monster for so long. Six years to be exact. But it wasn't as if Remus ever came back to the common room as a wolf. Irritation flew through him as always happened when he knew that he was something to be feared. A nemesis to society. An inconvience to wizarding kind everywhere.
How had he found out? This was a question that kept popping up in his mind. How did he know? The full moon had been out two nights ago, and Remus had just begun to feel well enough to come to his classes again. Perhaps Kavic had seen him go? Seen the moon, put two and two together when Remus hadn't shown up to his classes the next day? Maybe Remus hadn't been careful enough. Besides, very few people knew about him being a werewolf. And he trusted them enough not to spill the beans. His parents, out of sure fear of being outcasts, and the Mauraders...well that wasn't even a a possibilty. They would never tell. Just like Remus would never tell of their little secrets. Or, in James & Sirius' cases, big secrets.
It didn't matter much how Kavic knew however. What matter now was that when he'd found out that Kyndrick didn't know, he'd run off through the rainy weather to tell her himself. Remus knew he would tell her eventually. He would. But couldn't he tell her in his own time? When he was able to? Not when Kavic Elliot saw it fit? He needed to explain this very important factor to Kavic. To get it through his thick skull. To get him to understand that this problem was bigger then just his loyalties as a friend. 'Kavic, don't do this. Just, let me tell her when I'm ready.' He said, his voice wary through his stern tone.
His voice was tired of trying to explain this to Kavic the entire way to the courtyards. He had barely eaten that day, the last effects of changing finally leaving had given him very little of an appetite. He hadn't slept either. Again. Perhaps he ought to get some sort of treatment potion for insomnia. But his mind was far from those thoughts. He was now very aware of the decreasing distance between Kyndrick and the two of them. Despite their need for sleep, his legs attempted to carry him faster. Not that it would make a difference. They were almost there. He could see Kyndrick's face more clearly now. Was she crying? Was Remus too late? Did she already know?
Did she already hate him?

Kavic felt like a complete and total moron.
He had lived with Remus Lupin for six years, six for chrissakes, and he had never noticed, never clued it together. Pretty freaking brilliant. How observant was he? It had actually been an accident that he pieced it together. Koran was studying for her OWLs and he had been helping her with it. He wasn't excited about it, he had done this last year, but he couldn't really just give his notes for his tests. For one he was pretty sure the changed the thing from year to year and secondly... she had written his notes. So he had been quizzing her on something when a chunk of text in one of her Defense textbooks caught his eye and he began to read it.
And suddenly, it clicked, and Lupin's nickname of Moony made a hell of lot more sense.
He couldn't remember the moments afterward. He knew he had stood up so fast that his chair knocked over and he had sworn so violently, Koran had looked up at him in shock. He vaguely remember racing out of the libary as the librarian sniffed after him, running down the halls trying to find Kyndrick or Lupin. Kyndrick because he wanted to warn her or she if she suspected, Lupin because he wanted to give the sonuvabitch... something. He wasn't sure anymore if he was angry at Lupin for getting her pregnant when he was obviously... well, not the best person to be a father, or if he was just pissed because he had lived with him for six years and never clued it in. But he had seen Lupin in the hall, and he knew once Lupin looked at him that he was right... and that Lupin knew as well. And that was when he had spun around and raced for Kyndrick.
Which brought him here in the courtyard. With her.
And him.
"Like when?" Kavic spat, scowling at Lupin. "In a month? Two? Or six? Or a month after the baby is born? You should have told her when you knew what she was carrying. She needs to know whats in her. And for chrissake, she needs to know it soon so it doesn't come as a surprise. And God above help me, if you can't find the balls to do it, I will."
He turned back around to face where Kyndrick, well aware that he was shaking... that both of them were shaking, not just from the chill of the rain but from frustration and anger. And even as he walked to were Kyndrick was sitting... he couldn't think of the words to tell her. 'Hey luv, your boyfriend, and the father of your unborn child no less, turns into a big, mangy wolf every full moon. Surprised?' That wouldn't work.
Kyndrick needed to know. That was all he knew. He didn't care who said it anymore, if Remus couldn't tell her like he should have weeks ago, he would. Nothing else, not the words or anything, mattered.

[[shhhh, don't tell the admin i god-moded a little, k?]]
She watched her two sopping wet boys come closer. Kavic stopped in front of her first. They looked awful. Remus in particular made her wonder what was wrong. He'd said he was ill. What kind of illness did that to a person? Kyn had done medical studies and that was not something that seemed common. Her eye brows jumped on her forehead. "Erm, should I even ask?" She said lightly as the two young men were covered from the rain's downpour now.
"Oh god, what's wrong? You look like you've seen a dementor Kav. C'mere Remus, you seem like you need a break." Kyn offered as she scooted over to make room on her sitting place. What was happening here? The two looked like hell and that was all Kyn could really say from the situation. Maybe something was really wrong. Maybe Koran was hurt! What if she had to hurry up to hospital wing to help! Her mind raced through different scenarios. She needed to know what was going on.
She ran a hand through her mess of curly locks sticking to her forehead and stared them down. She waited for words, for movement, for something other than a blank stare in a weathered courtyard to signal what would happen next.

Sometimes all the thingsI should have saidI hope it's not too lateI wanna make you understand 'Do you not think I know that already?!' He hissed under his breath back at Kavic between his teeth. He'd snapped out of his calm and collected manner. They'd reached Kyndrick now, and a mix of frustration and fear ran through Remus' veins. Fear of Kyndrick discovering his secret this way, and frustration towards Kavic who, despite Remus' efforts while staying calm, didn't seem to understand. Remus had tried to tell her. But hey, Kavic should try telling his girlfriend that he became a giant wolf every full moon. Oh wait. He didn't have one. Ha.
A huge wave of relief escaped him like a popped balloon when he could not spot anything but concern in her expression. She didn't know. Yet. It looked like that little factor would change very soon, unless Remus did something. But he was out of ideas. He couldn't threaten Kavic to keep his trap shut. Violence wasn't exactly his strong spot while in his human form. He could always deny the whole thing, and say that Kavic was a dirty little liar who deserved to be put in a box--which he was, kind of...but Kyndrick would still get the idea in her head of Remus being a werewolf. Once it was there, there was no doubt that she too would put two and two together. Missing classes for one to two days in a row, always around a full moon, dark circles under his eyes, secretive personality. It all fit together.
But why did she have to know now? From Kavic Elliot or infront of Kavic Elliot? Couldn't he at least get the dignity to tell her alone? This was probably his payback for missing all those chances he'd had when it really had been just Kyndrick and him. Her words of one particular night echoed in his head. "Tell me a secret?". His pathetic ass hadn't been able to admit it then. Even when it had been the perfect timing he'd been waiting for. He just couldn't do it. So, giving a quick sharp look towards Kavic, which might have turned out a little more desperate then he'd have liked, he blurted out the first excuse he had. The one he always used.
'I'm ill' He murmured quietly turning to Kyndrick. His voice was cooler then he'd have liked, his irritation to Kavic showing up in his tone. He shook his head to her offer stiffly. Attempting to return to his calm self once more, he spoke a little smoother when he replied, all traces of frustration disappearing for the most part. 'I'll be fine. There's really nothing to worry about..just you know, having a talk with Kavic here.'
Just go with it. He thought hard, turning his face just slightly towards Kavic. Too bad he was a telepath.

Kavic refrained from snapping back, But you haven't yet. They had already reached Kyndrick and despite his anger and frustration at the whole situation. This was Remus's lovechild of a problem, (literally), and he wasn't going to just blurt out Lupins big, furry secret unless Remus couldn't fess it up. Then he was stepping in, no matter what the prefect had to say about it.
Hey Kyndrick, guess what? You know your boyfriend, the one man you've committed to for more then one night? Yeah. He's a werewolf. Sorry.
No...
Kavic couldn't bring himself to smile at Kyndrick. He was trying. He really was. To his credit, he managed a little turn of the lips but that was about as much of a smile as he could do. Kavic frowned at Lupin when he turned to him, not speaking for a few moments. "But with what is the question,"he finally said flatly, crossing his arms over his chest.

Kyndrie's eyes darted to Remus as soon as he spoke. "What are you ill with? I know you've missed classes but you never did say..." Kyn asked. She looked down at her feet. She started to get that awful feeling. It was like how her dad was trying to explain why her mum had passed away. Did Remus have some awful wizarding disease! Kyndrick didn't know if she was supposed to be worrying yet or not.
She looked back up at the two young men before her. What was going on between the two Gryffindors? Suddenly, she realized she wasn't in on something that the two of them knew. She may have been hormonal and out of it, but she wasn't bloody stupid! Kyn suddenly put on a glare. "Wait a moment. What aren't you two telling me?" Kyndrie asked, eyebrows pulling together. She needed answers right then and there.

Sometimes all the thingsI should have saidI hope it's not too lateI wanna make you understand Remus' throat went dry. He looked at Kyndrick sadly, lowering his eyes from hers shamefully. Why was this so hard? Even when he had reached the point that Kyndrick would find out whether he liked it or not, he couldn't spit it out. What if she hated him? Remus himself couldn't live with what he was, how could she? How would she understand? That he'd played part in putting a monster inside of her because of what he was? Because he was an idiot. A complete and total moron. There weren't even words to describe how guilty he felt for this entire situation. It was all his fault that the kid might not even be human, so why did Kyndrick have to get dragged along? That wasn't fair, and she deserved better.
He looked back at Kavic, very mildly surprised that he hadn't already blurted out the gruely truth. Looking back at Kyndrick, he shook his head silently. What was wrong with him now? Couldn't talk either? Pathetic. He took a few subconsious steps forward so as to sit in front of her, consol her, but stopped himself. Once the truth was out, would she want him close? He should at least stay back so as to give her room if she felt the need to run away. Which there was very little doubt that she would. Opening his mouth, he spoke to his muddy shoes. 'It's kind of a long story' He muttered when she asked him what he was ill with. Was she worried?
At this point, he looked back at Kyndrick once more, only to be glared down. He pulled a hair back through his messy locks uncomfortably, his eyes flickering over to Kavic once more. Apparently, when to tell Kyndrick wasn't an option anymore. He didn't have a say in what time to tell her. Obviously, he'd lost that right when he'd missed out on his chances. So, either Kavic told her now, or he told her now. Either way, it had to be now. And, Remus still wasn't ready for the entire truth to come out. Option three...flee? But if he did, Kavic would tell her anyway. Damn his luck. Hmmm, how should he phrase this? 'Kyndrick...' He began, looking at the ground once more. I'm a...I..mean, I think I've got to go' He ended, chickening out as he backed a couple steps away slowly.

Kavic grabbed Remus's arm in a vice-like hold, not caring if he bruised the other boy, when he saw him stepping away. What the hell?
"Tell her."
he hissed under his breath, turning so Kyndrick couldn't see him (and hopefully couldn't hear him), shaking his arm a little to empathize his point. "Rip the fucking bandage off." But then he looked at Remus and suddenly it clicked. "Good God," he said letting go off his arm as if in horror. Remus was going to run. He would rather someone else, even Kavic who he despised, right now at this moment say it then do it himself. Kavic pushed himself away roughly, turning back to Kyndrick as he swore under his breath. It had to be done didn't it? He had said, promised, threatened to do it if Remus couldn't. Well, Remus couldn't or wouldn't... so he needed to step up. Right? Oh God.He ran a hand through his now soaking wet hair, still ,almost frantically, running through possibilities. Hey Kyn, your boyfriend has well... a little monthly problem too! Except his turns him into a big, furry monster!No... Hey, do you like dogs? 'Cause Lupin here can turn into one. 'xcept only on the full moon.He hooked his thumb through the gold chain of his necklace and tugged on it, as if trying to find guidance. He was well aware that Kyndrick was waiting for them, one of them, either of them, to speak. "Kyndrick..." he finally started before stopping, trying both to gather the courage needed to break his best friends heart and the tact to do it gently. Rip the bandage off."Your boyfriend is a werewolf." [/blockquote][/blockquote]

She sat for a moment, face draining of all color. "WHAT?!" She asked. She had to have heard wrong. She didn't move, just sat as still as stone, her eyes flickering between Kavic and Remus. Pieces began flying together in her mind. That night by the lake! And secrets! That was the first thing she could think of. Maybe the worry lines Remus wore made more sense than she'd ever acknowledged! Her eyes grew wider. This strange mix of anger, alarm, and confusion swept over her. How did Kavic know? What did this mean to her? What was inside her! She made her first sign of movement, a tiny little glimpse down at her stomach. Her eyes flicked back up, every movement so defined suddenly. "But I'm pregnant." She whispered. "What happens now?" She asked no one in particular. She stood up from her spot and could have sworn she saw Koran Elliot standing in the courtyard. what had she heard? Kyn's eyes blurred with tears.
She shoved past the two boys. She had some sorting out to do. She began to run. She bolted as far away from both of them as she could. Kyndrick didn't know where she was going. She only knew she was gone. So, she ran away. She needed time to process what the hell had just happened. A tiny peek behind her showed Remus Lupin, the werewolf, Kavic Elliot, the unexpected best friend, Koran Elliot, the shocked girl in the wrong place at the wrong time, and her battered old copy of Pride and Prejudice being ruined from the rain. Kyndrick Laurent started crying and her feet only carried her farther away from everything. She couldn't deal with this right now. She just couldn't.

Sometimes all the thingsI should have saidI hope it's not too lateI wanna make you understand Remus stared at Kavic's arm as soon as it had taken a hold of his arm. They were on a touching-basis now were they? Remus hadn't been aware of that. He looked up at Kavic in disbelief, narrowing his eyes at the boy. The way he said it made it sound as if it was just that simple. Which it wasn't. Not even close. But, as much as he didn't want to believe it, maybe Kavic was right to hold him back from walking away. To force him to tell Kyndrick...No. forget that thought, Kavic was wrong. 'Let go of me' He breathed evenly, holding his irritation inside as defiance blazed through his brown eyes. But Kavic's arms were already gone, and he was taking a few steps back. Frightened? Or just defeated? Remus couldn't even tell anymore.
But then, he had turned towards Kyndrick. He was going to say something. Remus had to stop him. Kyndrick couldn't, shoudn't know this way. 'Kavic. Don't.' He warned, beginning to shake his head. His voice was different now. Almost desperate. But, it was as if it was happening in slow motion. Even as Kavic took the time to get the words out, once they were out, they repeated in Remus' head at least five times. Before he knew it, Kyndrick had shouted out, and Remus, completely forgetting about Kavic for the time being, snapped his head to the seventh year. Her face was draining of colour. She was sitting so still. Kind of like a statue, and although she wasn't moving much, she was moving quick. No. No. No. Not like this.
'Kyndrick' He murmured inaudibly. He stared at her desperately from his spot, taking a couple steps forward before he could think much of it. He watched the play of emotion on her face, which caused him to stop moving towards her, even as her train of thought reached the road he'd been dreading. Look what he'd done. All he was good for was frightening people, and now Kyndrick too! He stood his ground as she moved past him. No not moved. Ran. Ran past him. Away from him. She was scared. He knew she would be.
A bang of dread like a heavy bucket slammed into his stomach as he watched her run away, and suddenly he felt a bit queasy. He turned just slightly until Kavic was in his line of sight. 'Kavic. What part of mind your own buisness was too difficult for you to understand?' He said, his tone dry and sarcastic.

Kavic stood, barely hearing Remus talking to him. He could see Koran in the doorway, looking as shocked as he knew his face must be. She came outside to the courtyard and started to cross over to him. He shook his head. "No, Koran go," he said, pushing her back roughly when she got close enough. "Go after Kyndrick." She hesitated, frightened of his expression. "Go!" Kavic ignored the glare he received for his uncharacteristic rough treatment of her, but he didn't care. If it was going to get ugly, he wanted her out. And Kyndrick needed someone with her... most likely, she wouldn't want someone with a Y chromosome.
He turned back to Remus, knowing he was shaking. Was it from the anger? Or from the cold? He couldn't even tell. Maybe both. Most likely both. "And what part of you needed to tell her from the beginning did you not get?" he said, starting out quietly but his voice rose. "She needed to know. And, I gave you a bloody chance and you woulda ran away with tail tucked between your legs if I hadn't stopped you!" He was all but yelling now, the irony of his statement didn't quite register. "So yes, I told her. It should have been you and it should have been months ago. But did you? No. You shuffled your feet and waited. How long did were you going to wait before telling her?"
Kavic knew that he was probably going to get a bruised jaw for his words. He even knew he deserved it partly. But he didn't really care. If he could get Moony to swing at him, then he could swing back. Hell, if he thought Moony was about to swing at him then he could swing back.
Koran walked along the halls, utterly confused. She couldn't remember the last time she saw that expression on her brothers face... pale, strained, biting the inside of his mouth, but angry enough that he was shaking. She couldn't even remember the last time he had shoved her that hard, nearly enough that she fell over. They fought, sure, they were siblings, but she could only remember him physically hitting her once or twice (well, once or twice since they had gotten big enough that he could really hurt her) and even then... he had seemed more shocked by it then she had.
What was going on?
She looked up and down the hallway, trying to figure out where Kyndrick could have gone. She knew she'd probably hear Kyndrick before she saw her, but... it was a big school.
"...Kyndrick?" she finally called out, turning to see if she could place an answering call.

Stop, stare, listen, breathe. Kyndrick sat curled up in a spot in a different courtyard that looked out towards the lake. She wiped away stupid, naive tears. Her face was locked in an expression of frustration. Her arms wrapped around her stomach. What the hell was inside her? Maybe she should have gone to Dumbledore. Maybe to Pomfrey? She didn't know anymore. She stared down at her wet clothes. Her expression could only be described as fierce. "Look at the bright side, there isn't anything that can make my day worse." Kyndrick's laugh was hollow, bitter. She watched rain fill the courtyard and splash in the lake. She wondered what it felt like to swim with those sheets of rain beating down on her. She would have tried had she not been so confused, so depressed, and obviously, so stupidly pregnant!
Her mind got lost in those sheets of rain. It wasn't like she was going to run to Dumbledore right that second to ask if she was carrying a monster. She could only let go momentarily. It was a wonder Remus hadn't broken down then. Despite feeling so angry with him for not telling her, part of her knew he never meant to hurt her. Part of her really understood all the chaos now. She didn't know if she could see a future with him. Every full moon, Kyn would have to let Remus go? She closed her eyes and listened to the rain pour around her. What was that sound? Someone called her name. Her eyes flashed open. It was Koran. God, how much had she heard? And Kyn wanted to keep her entire pregnancy a secret so that her new friend wouldn't judge her. So much for that.
"Koran, I'm right here." Kyn called back. She tried to read the other girl's expression through the sheets of rain but had very little luck. What would happen now? Was Koran mad? Oh god!

Koran went over to Kyndrick and knelt down next to her, placing one hand hesitantly on the small of her back and leaning over so she could look her friend in the face. "What's wrong?"
she asked, concerned. "What happened? He didn't hit you or yell at you or anything right?" Koran couldn't think of much else that would provoke Kavic into such an anger, but she couldn't imagine Remus ever, ever hitting his girlfriend. Kavic wasn't sure how to respond. Remus had a point, that was the entire flaw of his argument. But he was also as equally sure that Kyndrick had needed to know, and know soon. "She needed to know." He finally said flatly, "Or would you have rather her found out after the kid's born?" [/blockquote][/blockquote] [[Triple sorry for length, quality and lateness... : < Please forgive me guys.
