Haley hummed to herself as she moved through the streets of Hogsmeade, finally stopping in front of Gladrags Wizardwear. She stepped inside and quickly made her way over to the pre-made dress robes. The Yule Ball was just a week away and she really needed something to wear, and fast, this was to be the last Hogsmeade trip before Christmas so she'd have to do all her shopping today.
She searched through racks and racks of dresses but found nothing that she or Nathan would like. Everything was either too short or too small or too big. 'I guess I'll just have to modify a dress,' she thought, thankful that her mother had taught her a lot of household charms. Haley took three dresses off a rack and began walking toward the change rooms, but one of them was longer than she'd realized and she tripped over it, falling into another customer.
"I'm so sorry," she said, standing and pushing aside the dresses to help up the person she'd knocked over.

Rosalie rushed into Gladrags' Wizardwear. She had already put off getting her dress for so long; if she waited any longer, there wouldn't be any left! Rushing over at the top speed you could get before becoming conspicuous to the dress robes section, searching around. Hm. Nothing caught her eye especially... oh, but she hadn't seen that one yet! She quickly gathered it in her arms and headed off to the cash register when someone knocked straight into her.
Rosalie slowly got up, brushing herself off and flipping her hair over her shoulder. She picked up her dress robe and slung it over her arm again. She then lifted her head to look the person who had tripped her straight in the eye. A girl. Hmm. Someone with three dress robes in her arms. A Hogwarts student going to the Yule Ball, it would seem. She spoke, her wind-chime voice a tad sarcastic.
"That's all right. No harm done," she said, flipping her hair over her shoulder and glancing at a mirror to make sure her hair was all right. "Hogwarts student?" She asked, not really caring, but not seeing much alternative. "Going to the Yule Ball?" She gestured to the three robes in the girl's arms. Then looked closer. Wow. Didn't look like the right size.... She shook her head and smoothed her hair. "Hmm." She muttered. Maybe the girl was doing a charm of some sort.
She mentally recalled her own dress. Not perfect, but with a little fixing-up, it would definitely do. She smiled a little bit, running her pointer and index fingers over the soft cloth again.

Haley was less-than-pleased to discover who she had knocked over. She had never been formally introduced with the girl in front of her, and she didn't even know her name, but she'd seen her sitting at the Slytherin table at school. "Er, yes, I am," she said. At the mention of the ball, Haley remembered her dresses and bent down again to pick them up. She frowned as she saw a rip in the train of one of them, but she draped all three over her arm and turned her attention back to the girl.
"I'm Haley James-Scott. Are you going too?" she asked curiously, pointing to the dress in the girl's own arms. "It's very pretty." Haley loved making friends, and she wasn't going to let house stereotypes stop her from taking an honest interest in anyone.

Rosalie noticed that the girl didn't look as pleased to discover who she had knocked over. Probably Slytherin prejudice. Rosalie loved her house, but she was aware that not everyone did. Especially those in Gryffindor. Was this girl a Gryffindor? Rosalie didn't think so, although she couldn't honestly say for sure. Her eyes tightened by a fraction of an inch in thought, trying to figure it out as the girl bent down to pick up her unpurchased robes.
The girl introduced herself as Haley James-Scott. "I'm Rosalie Logan, nice to meet you. And yes, I am going." Maybe Rosalie had been wrong about this girl prejudicing her. Or maybe Haley was just a sweet person. Probably the latter. Rosalie didn't like to think she was wrong often.
Haley had pointed to the dress in Rosalie's arms and commented that it was pretty. Rose smiled. "It's all right. M-my mother went to Beaubatons, and she used t-to tell me about the robe shop there and let me try on her dress. I don't know, that was more my taste, but these are very nice, too." She hoped Haley hadn't noticed her stuttering when she said her "Mother" had gone to Beaubatons. Oh, well. Her mother was supposed to be dead (well, she was), so perhaps a little sadness would be expected, and perhaps the stuttering could be applied to sadness.

Haley nodded slowly. She wanted to ask about the stuttering, but thought better of it as she had only just met Rosalie and didn't want to seem nosy. Besides, if it was because Rosalie's mother had died, she didn't want to be the one to bring it up. "Did your dad go to Hogwarts, then? I mean, is that the reason you're here instead of Beauxbatons?"
After dusting off the two intact dresses and hanging them back up on the rack, Haley gathered the ripped one in her arms and began walked to the back of the check-out line, frowning. 'Why did I have to rip the orange dress?' she thought, wondering why she'd picked up an orange dress in the first place.
(Sorry it's kinda short. I'm rather tired right now. My next post will be longer, promise.)

Rosalie watched Haley nod slowly. Probably wondering about the mild slip of stuttering, but not wanting to ask, perhaps suspecting that Rosalie's mother was dead. Haley asked why Rosalie was at Hogwarts instead of Beauxbatons. Ah. Hmm. This could be answered with the cover story Rosalie and her family had. "My mother and father are both dead, I live with my aunt and uncle." She swiftly made her way to the cashier, consequentially following Haley, as Haley was also heading that way, her eyes downcast at a dress in her arms, apparently. Rosalie's eyes followed to the dress.
An orange dress. Not Rosalie's color choice, but perhaps it was Haley's. Rosalie gazed at the dress, trying to find something that could persuade someone to buy it. Hmm... looked like it had a slight tear. Probably a "you break it you buy it" thing. Rosalie glanced at the dress in her own arms again. Hmm. Probably would be better in a different color, actually.... Did Rosalie know any charms to change the color of a dress robe? She thought so.
(It's OK. Mine's short, too. )
