Aericka walked calmly along the corridor She was portraying the innocent side of herself. The one the teachers kneew. She was carrying a book with her arms crossed tightly across her chest. Her school uniform was completely in order aside from the pair of converse she was wearing instead of the dress shoes. She only wore them because her dress shoes were caked in mud from the soggy forest floor. She had forgotten to change out of them and when she came upon a place where some snow had melted she was instantly regretting it.
She watched where she was going while casually glancing at the moving pictures on the wall. Some gave a quiet hello or a simple nod as she passd and she made a point of nodding back or smiling to whoever did. Aericka turned into an empty classroom and sat dpwn wanting a quiet place to think of a new prank. It felt like seconds but it was probably more likely it was minutes before she heard the door open and someone joined her..

Lucius walked calmly down the corridor with his book bag slung over his shoulder and an annoyed expression on his face. He'd been studying peacefully in his dorm room only a few minutes ago, until one of his dorm mates came in with his girlfriend and demanded some privacy. Usually Lucius would protest, but he really needed to finish writing his Ancient Runes essay. The recent event in Lucius' life, Yule Ball and finding his sister included, had taken him away from his studies and needed badly to catch up now that the holiday were over.
He stopped walking when he reached the door leading into an abandoned classroom. Usually he studied in Classroom 11 on the ground floor when the common room was noisy, but he recently heard a rumor that the classroom was being put to use again and Lucius didn't really want to risk finding out, so he moved to the next closest room. Opening the door, he groaned inwardly. There, sitting in the classroom, was Aericka Thorn, a Gryffindor. Lucius couldn't complain too much though. Of all the Gryffindors he knew, Aericka was probably the best of them all. At least she knew how to have a little fun - and not always at a Slytherin's expense. Closing the door behind him loudly. He walked across the room, sat down at an old desk and began emptying out the contents of his book bag onto it. "Hey, mind if I do my work here?" he asked absent-mindedly, as though he was going to stay either way.

Aericka saw it was Lucius and gulped. Admittedly Lucius was the only Slytherin she dare not cross. She shrugged and sighed. "No problem. Common room being used for a party or something?" she asked. Just trying to be friendly as was her nature though she was afraid of being scorned by this particular snake. She pulled out an acid pop and placed it in her mouth opening her book.
She looked up and took another acid pop from her pocket. "Would you like one?" she asked politely.

"Dorm room's been turned into a snogging room, actually," he corrected, his eyes still downcast as he began sorting his books into different piles according to the class they were used for. Lucius looked at Aericka and the acid pop she was offering. He was going to refuse, but he hadn't had acid pops in a while and they happened to be his favorite. "Thank you," he said, taking it and putting it in his mouth.
He looked down at his books again, hoping to get some work not now, but the curiousity got the better of him. "What areyou doing here? A little far from the tower, isn't it?" he asked, looking at Aericka again.

Aericka shrugged and sighed. "I live in the same tower as the Marauders. I do need some quiet time. Particularly to study for NEWT exams. And I'm behind on my ancient runes work" she said gesturing to the book in front of her. "I'm no where near finished with that stupid essay" she sighed. She checked her bag and grabbed her quil and ink opening her book. She rested the quil in the ink and started skimming over the material.
Ancient runes bored her to death. She hardly understood it. Maybe if she was lucky Lucius would be able to help her. Although it wasn't very often that a Gryffindor or Slytherin would willingly help each other.

Lucius smirked at the comment about the Marauders. He didn't deal with the group of pesky Gryffindors nearly as much as his friends, but he'd heard many stories of their legendary pranks and could only imagine what it would be like to share a common room with all four. "Ancient Runes is a bit tough," he admitted, glancing briefly at the book she'd pulled out. "But you're not going to get anywhere with that old thing."
Turning back to his desk, Lucius pulled a book off the top of one small pile and handed it to Aericka. "Here, it just came out last month. Should have the answers to all your questions." He wasn't really sure why he was helping the girl. Prankster or not, they weren't friends, and they weren't going to be friends any time soon. "Think of it as a thank-you for the acid pop," he said, more to appease his own conscience. Lucius once again turned to his desk and began flipping through a potions journal.

Aericka raised an eyebrow. "Uh... Thanks Lucius" she said kind of confused. She nodded and flipped through the book. She began writing immediately. "You're right. It does make it easier. Where did you buy it?" she asked still writing. She figured she should get herself a copy. This book made everything a lot more clear. It didnt use all of the big words right off the bat which was a big relief.
She counted the words on her paper quietly. "25...26...27...28...29...30" She sighed. "just 2,970 more to go" she mumbled to herself shaking her head. She knew she would be up all night doing this stupid thing. She wished she had Transfiguration homework instead. That DADA and CoMC were the only classes she actually enjoyed.

"My mother bought it for me when I entered my third-year. She thought it would be good for me to read book geared toward older students. I don't know where she bought it." Lucius was copying facts from the potions joournal as he spoke. He hated thinking about the day his parents had prepared him for his third-year. It was just after he'd found the letter from his father's lover and he was still very mad at his father.
He looked at Aericka suddenly. "You can keep it, if you want. I've probably read it a hundred times. Besides, I'm thinking of dropping out of Ancient Runes soon."

"Oh, That's too bad." she said as she continued writing. She recounted her words again. Doing it about every tenth letter. She was anxious to get it done and did not have patience for this school work. She looked up and offered a smile. "Thanks. That's really nice. It'll come in handy" she said going back to work. She looked up. "Don't worry. I won't tell anyone about this. I know no one would ever let either of us live it down that we were being civilized towards each other" she said with a slight smirk.
((Im so sorry its really short. I wasnt sure what else to put :[[))

Lucius eyes widened. "Um ... thanks." He began thinking about what she'd said about people never letting them live it down. It was a bit sad to think that their friends would hold it against them if they became friends - which they certainly were not! Imagine, Lucius being friends with a Gryffindor. His father would have his hide if he knew Lucius had given a gift to a blood traitor, and this was the second time.
"Would people really be that hard on you if they knew about this?" he asked. "I mean, it's different for us Slytherins. We're known for sticking together and all that. But the rest of you all mingle. Surely they wouldn't mind too much." He'd always wondered what relationships the other houses had.

Aericka shook her head. "Most of them wouldn't be hard on me but the teasing would just kill me. .... Not to mention Damon" she said more mumbling the second part. What would Damon do if she became friends with Lucius let alone any other boy in Slytherin? She was pretty sure he despised the fact she hung out with Oliver and Noah already and she'd known them for ages.
"Well, I doubt you and I will ever be "Friends" but I'm sure we can at least agree to be civilized." she said putting her quil in the ink. "Can you explain something to me though? I still don't get why Slytherins disapprove of the other houses so much." she admitted leaning her elbows on the table.

Lucius nodded. "Yeah, Damon wouldn't be to happy and you and me talking." He cringed as he thought about the seventh-year. "I think it all started with blood. You know, and muggle-relations are bad kinda thing. That's what Salazar said anyway. So we always knew for sure the none would be found in Slytherin. Now, though ..." he hesitated. As much as he hated Severus Snape, it wasn't his place to say the Snape was half-blood. "Halfs are being admitted," he said quietly.
"I think we fight more out of habit than anything else now. The house stereotypes were created for this reason too, I'm sure. I mean, people say that Hufflepuffs are dopey, and Ravenclaws are too smart for their own good and don't know how to have any fun. I don't really believe any of it anymore. Hell, look at Kyndrick Laurent. She's Ravenclaw and she can party better than most of my Slytherin friends." Lucius hesitated again. "And my sister is in Ravenclaw too."

Aericka nodded thinking. "Severus" she noted quietly. He also was another slytherin she never pranked. But because she liked him not feared him. She understood sort of how Severus felt and didn't want to make anything harder by having people laugh at him because of one of her pranks. She shrugged sighed. "Honestly If there weren't these stupid stereotypes I'd be friends with any slytherin that wanted. Hell even now I'd be friends with any Slytherin. Maybe just not publicly....." she admitted.
She smiled and nodded. "Hah Kyndrick. She is my party idol. Kind of. I'd spend the night with only one guy. Not browse" she said leaning back in her chair. "Although it's hard to get Damon in the same mindset" she sighed playing with a stray thread on her sleeve.
