Likes:
- Fantasy novels. Lord of the Rings is one of her most read at the moment.
- Riding her horse, Strider.
- Animals in general, unless they are of the eight-legged and more variety. Then she is across the room and out the door.
- History, muggle or magic. Her era of the moment is Tudor England.
- The Forbidden Forest and the lawns of Hogwarts. They remind her of her home,and she frequently takes walks over each of them. (Not every far into the Forbidden Forest of course)
- Care of Magical Creatures for obvious reasons.
- Her family. She is very close to her mother and father, and she adores her older brother even though she'd never say it.
- Piano music, even if she can't play it.
Dislikes:
- History of Magic, the class. It's frusrating to her that such an interesting subject is taught so dully.
- Spiders and other creepy crawlies. While she doesn't squash them on sight (unless they are abnormally large and in her room), she doesn't like to be near them.
- Being left behind for 'her own good.'
- People who take easier classes then her and get better grades then her... add points if they then brag about it.
Fears:
- Heights. She can't look down from more then a few steps with going lightheaded.
- For her family in the country and in London, with the pending danger of Voldemort.
- She's scared of wildfires, mostly because she grew up next to several acres of fields and then beyond that, a forest.
- Her brothers driving. No really.
Hobbies:
- Again, riding Strider takes alot of her time in the summer.
- Reading,and occasionally writing.
- She's picked up crafts from her mother, she know how to knit and she's teaching herself to crochet. She knows how sew (mostly to repair her or her brothers clothes), as well as a little emboridery. But she doesn't like needles, she sticks her fingers to much.
- She likes to play cards alot, and is barred from playing 21 with her family (she can count the cards with varying degrees of sucess)
- She's been trying to teach herself piano, without much success.
Goals:
She hasn't thought much on what she'd like to do when she leaves Hogwarts. When she was younger she was toying with the idea of training and breeding horses. Now, she's considering possibley working for the ministry in the Magical Creature department or as a healer, and training on the side, but no firm plans as of yet.
General Personality Description:
Koran is much shyer then her brother and keeps mostly to herself. She would rather stay on the side lines and watch then be in the middle. That isn't to say that she dislikes people and having friends... not the case. She would just rather keep her own counsel then spread her thoughts everywhere.
She doesn't have many 'close friends' but the ones she has she usually keeps. She has very little patience for 'false friends', ie; friendships that last for a day or two, and then both parties ignore each other for weeks. She would rather have a friend to keep if it's any choice.
She is very intellignet, which is might be part of the probelm... she is withdrawn into a book or into her studies more then she interacts with people her age. (She often points out to her brother that this is hardly a bad thing, she's near the top of her class.) She a streak of competivness, but it mostly manifests in her studies... she's been known to stay up late, late, late into the night studying to ensure that she at least will have one of the top scores on a test.
She's very caring toward her friends and family, willing to go the extra mile for any of them. Her brother often teases her that 'she's trying to outrank our mother in the mother goose catagory.'
Koran has a phobia of heights, she got pushed out of the bell tower when her brother hit the bell, causing it to swing and hit her. Due to her magic (unknown then), she survived with little more then a few bruises, but the incident shook her deeply. She can't look down more then three feet up without turning white. She's combatted the fear, a little in the years since the accident, but mostly it's been her teaching herself to live with it and not draw attention to it.
Like her brother, Koran was raised in a christian household, and she is a little more open about her faith then he is. She mostly just keeps it to herself, and answers any questions that people have as honestly as she can, and every Sunday her mother sends her a transcribed copy of her fathers sermon and the bible verse of the week. (She sometimes reads these to her brother when he's there, but mostly not.) It's was a big part of her life as a child, and it still is as she's gotten older, she doesn't feel the need to hide it.
Appearance;;
Celebrity: Anna Popplewell
Picture:
Appearance Description:
Koran is fairly short at 5'3, and of a medium weight. Her skin is lighter then her brother's, but her hair is several shades darker at a chocolate brown. She keeps it long, but rarely does more then pull it back from her face. It has a natural curl at the end, which peeves her to no end... she envies the long, naturally straight hair that seems to be in fashion. Her eyes are hazel-green, and are unadorned by any makeup except for maybe mascara and a touch of eye liner when she is feeling extra special (or got up very early and needs something to fill her time.) She rarely wears any makeup other then maybe a touch of gloss from time to time, her skin is clear (other then freckles, but good luck covering those up) and her lips are naturally red... and she doesn't like excessive make up anyways. Why hide what God intended?
Her clothes are fairly simple and 'countryish', jeans and skirts with knit shirts in plain colors. She normally wears jeans casually, but isn't opposed to skirts... jeans are just less embaressing to fall down in. She has a golden cross to match her brothers, and she wears it all times.History;;

The family also has three horses, a bay shire gelding named Destrier who was given to the father but was soon adopted by the whole family, a skewbald gypsy vanner mare named Sam, and a blue roan connemara pony named Strider who belongs to her.

One sister (Moria) who is married to a man named Christian. They have three daughters, Cassie, Emma, and Kayla, ages 9, 12, and 15.
Fathers side;
Two brothers and one sister. One of his brothers, Robert, is married to a woman named Allison. They have a 19 year old son named Hugh.
His sister, Lisa, is divorced with a 17 year old daughter (Blythe) and a 21 year old son (John).
His other brother Eric is almost permanently engaged to a woman named Olivia. Eric has a daughter named Kalasin from a previous marriage to a woman named Karen. Kalasin (or, Kally) has recently been admitted to Hogwarts... much to her older cousins surprise.
Birthplace:London, England
Birthplace: London, England
History: Koran grew up in the country with her mother and father, and her older brother Kavic. Her father was a minister in the small town they lived in, and she grew up attending the services he led and helping her mother in the house... and exploring the nearby fields and forest with her brother. They would enact the fantasy stories they both enjoyed, but even though Kavic was always the hero (of course he was, he was her brother), Koran never let him cast her as the princess in distress. She was always Lancelot to his Arthur, his second in command.
Her family eventually came upon a shire gelding (he was given as a gift to their bewildered father. "What are we going to do with a draft horse?" he said weakly to his wife.
"Keep him. You daughter likes him." she had replied evenly as the five year old scrambled up on the horses bare, broad back. (Destier, as the horse was going to be called, did nothing but flick his tail when she tugged to hard on his black mane). This started a trend, a year after Destrier came to the household, they picked up another horse, a 'gypsy vanner' that became known as Sam, Koran's favorite character in the new series her mother was reading her, Lord of the Rings. Three years later, after much begging, Koran recived her own horse who became known as Strider. With Strider, she took the fields more often, riding for hours until her much agrieved brother had to come after her and tell her, "Yes, you must come home before dark." And she did, only to get up early and saddle Strider and ride out the next day with naught but a packed lunch and maybe a book.
And then the stranger came to her house when her older brother turned eleven, and everything changed.
She could remember the tension and the fights between her brother and her parents. His fights to go, and their fights for him to stay that rocked the little house. She would stay up, listening to them fight on the floor beneath her and her brothers sulky, heavy footsteps and slamming door, and then her mother and fathers quiet voices talking for hours on end. Having Strider was a relief then, because she could take him and just go without worrying about the tension at home, and the uncomfortable propesct of her brother leaving her.
Even years later, she couldn't remember the final fight that convinced her parents to relent, when the suger bowl flew on its own and slammed into the door next to where she was listening, even though it had been recounted for her many times. But she remember going to London with her sulky brother in the seat next to her, and her parents driving past the Leaky Cauldron three times until she tapped her brothers arm and alerted him to it, which started a tendril of an idea. Just maybe...
And she remembered the wonders of seeing Diagon Alley for the first time, the bookstore, the wand shop, the funny smelling Apocathery which her brother had dallied in, the Quidditch store even though she hid her face in her mothers skirt at the moving pictures depicting a Qudditch match. So much wonder in one small street.
The first year with Kavic being gone was hard, even when he returned at Christmas and Easter, nearly bursting with stories of ghosts, and moving stairwells, and things Koran couldn't even imagine. But she remembered that she had seen the Leaky Cauldron when her parents could not, and wondered if Hogwarts could be in her future too... but she tried not to dwell on it, in fear of getting her hopes up only to be dashed.
Which was why maybe on the day of her eleventh birthday, she hid until in her bed until her mother came in and sat on her bed in silence.
"A letter came for you." she said finally.
"Oh." Koran peeked her head out, hardly daring to get hopes up.
"By owl."
Now a fifth year student at Hogwarts, Koran has adjusted. She misses her parents and Strider of course (her brother often asks which one she misses more; her parents or her horse), but she enjoys the challenges of Hogwarts... it has become her home as much as the small country church has, and the fields that surround it.Other;;
