she awake in the night with a slight gasp. cold sweat rolled down her back, silent tears streaming down her face. another nightmare, another probably, sleepless night. harmony attempted to recall what it had been, but had no such luck. but maybe that was a good thing. she rolled over, attempting to lull back into the subconcious state. again, no luck. harmony decided to go into the common room, nobody would be up at this hour anyway. slipping out of the comfortable bed silently, 'mo' grabbed a long sweater and put it on. she wiped the tears off her face with the sleeve and crept down to the common roon.
fluffy chairs and loveseats invited her, overwhelming the girl for a split second. she decided she liked the yellow-y couch and plopped on it a bit over-dramatically. it was cold, even with the fire blazing and images of this nightmare ran through her mind. harmony curled up, staring at the fire, searching for comfort. she found none in the fire. harmony wanted a friend, an accomplice to talk to her.

Wyatt woke to the pushing and quiet calling of his dorm mate, telling him to wake up. Apparently he'd been shouting in his sleep and annoying the four other boys in the room. Wyatt sleepily apologized to each one of them, then grabbed his blankets and pillow and walked out the door. It wouldn't be the first time in his six years at Hogwarts that he'd have to sleep on the couch in front of the fire in the common room due to his ridiculous nightmares. In fact, quite a few of his house mates were used to seeing him there in the morning.
Silently, he made his way down the corridor, thinking of the nightmare that had plagued him since he was five. Always the same one, a man falling off a roof. His father. Wyatt shook his head, forcing the memory away. It was bad enough he had relived it once tonight. He had just entered the common room proper when he noticed that someone was sitting on his secondary bed. Of all the times he'd been down here at such an early hour, there had only been three times he'd found someone else and it still surprised him. Walking over to the couch, now a little more awake, he recognized his friend Harmony.
"Hey, Mo," he said, sitting down beside her and tossing the blankets and pillow at his feet. "What are you doing down here?"

harmony heard a voice and someone plop down beside her. she looked up to see wyatt moon, one of her friends. surprised at his arbitrary appearance, harmony was for one; at loss for words. her brain wondered why he was down here, did he have a nightmare too? as he had called her 'mo' she smiled, loving that nickname. "hey wyatt." she breathed finally, wondering whether or not to tell him about the nightmare. "just a..um...bad dream." she said nonchalantly. harmony still hadn't met his eyes yet, afraid that he'd see the tears lingering in her eyes, she returned her gaze to the fire.
wyatt seemed really cool, he was really nice and funny, and seemed to be friends with everyone. harmony was friends with him, not bestest friends, just average. but she wanted to be closer to him, not as a boyfriend, but as a best friend. she hadn't yet suceeded in making a super-close friend yet and maybe this was her chance. or maybe harmony was just in over her head and wishing for things that couldn't happen. a small shake of the head as if to clear her mind and harmony suddenly realized she was freezing. her eyes saw the blanket at wyatt's feet, and her first impulse was to pick it up and make herself warm. but that just wasn't common courtasy..not to mention it would be a bit...odd. harmony tightened her muscles, determindedly repressing the shivers attempting to run up and down her body.

Wyatt nodded sympathetically. "Yeah, that seems to be going around tonight," he said, the image of his father falling once again popped into his mind. He ran a hand through his hair and willed the memories away. He never spoke about his father to anyone except family and really close friends and he wasn't about to start now, when it was obvious to him that Harmony needed more cheering up than he did. "Do you want to talk about it?"
Slowly, he picked up his pillow and put it under his head, but left the blanket at his feet. For being on the ground floor, the Hufflepuff common room was usually quite warm. But tonight there had been a snow storm and Wyatt noted that the fire wasn't doing much good. But he enjoyed the chill right now. It was helping to keep him awake, seeing as sleeping was the last thing he wanted to do right now. But he quickly realized that Harmony might not feel the same way, so he picked up the blanket and held it out to her. "Do you want this?" he asked.

she relished in the idea that someone could actually feel her pain as well, someone who would just call her 'stupid' or 'baby' when she had a nightmare. harmony could tell he was thinking about something...she just let him do that. a small spark burst out of the fire, before seeming to melt away. mom, harmony thought, i miss you. i need your help, but i'd give up everything to have you back. perhaps that actual thought wasn't actually going to anyone in particular, but harmony felt as if her mother had heard. she didn't know how, but she knew that somehow her mother had heard it.
his words shattered her deep thoughts, and harmony pushed them away. "there isn't much to talk about. half of these things i don't even know what's going on" that was mostly the truth, though harmony knew she left out the most important part; it was about her mother. "i guess they are about my..mom" she squeaked, barely strong enough to hold away the tears that so impulsively filled her eyes. harmony watched silently as he laid down on the couch, leaving his blanket on the floor. "yes please," harmony smiled, took the blanket, and covered up with it. "thanks, just tell me if you want to use it. but i have one question, how are you not cold?" her voice was laced with a humorous tone.
as she waited for a reply, harmony thought about upcoming events at random. it would be christmas soon, but there was something before that. what was it? the yule ball.. she thought to herself with dread. harmony was clumsy, defidently not a good dancer. she hadn't even been asked yet! how mortifying; having to go alone. maybe i'll go and play guitar and sing instead of going and looking retarded dancing alone. she thought to herself with a small sigh of relief.

He chuckled. "I'm just used to it, I guess." It was partly true. When he lived in France, his grandparents' house was always cold. So were his grandparents. He sighed as he wondered what they'd say if they knew he was sitting in the cold, avoiding going back to sleep because of a silly nightmare. 'They'd tell you to get over it, forget dad, and get back to bed,' he thought. They really were the most rude and cold-hearted people he'd ever met.
Wyatt turned to look at Harmony. He knew that her mother had died a while ago and he could relate. Though it did amaze him that she'd also had a nightmare about it, especially after so long. Wyatt had always thought he was just strange for having these terrible dreams for the past eleven years. "You know, my dad died a long time ago," he said suddenly, his voice a little above a whisper. "I know it's hard to talk about it ... but, if you ever do want to talk, I'm here for you."

she could tell more was running through his mind, unsure about what. she felt nervous, not wanting to say anything offending so decided with a modest, "oh." who did he live with if his dad wasn't there? his mom? or different relatives. it was all information that one would not usually be interested in though harmony was different, she tended to make those feel 'special', appreciated, because they actually were by her. though most thought it wasn't annoying but somehow she didn't think wyatt would be like that. he was a good person, "i'm curious, if you don't mind me asking, who did you live with? your mom or are you not that close." maybe he'd feel better about answering if she provided him with her's first, "i live with my dad, but he's usually busy investigating stuff, so sometimes i have to live alone and i get quite lonesome. sometimes paranoid..no one is really there to tell me it's ok when i have nightmares." she realized that she had just rambled on and felt a bit stupid. she blushed slightly, willing it to go away before her face matched her hair.
as a more serious topic arrived, harmony gave wyatt her full attention, and was instantly surprised he shared this with her...it made her feel..well, special. but she felt so horrible for him; his dad dying when he was so young, and such a tragic way too. as he spoke more; harmony knew that she could really trust him to not laugh or anything because he knew the feeling. it was someone to help her! it might not be easy talking but it felt so much better knowing someone understood. harmony smiled a comforting smile and began to speak. "i'm so sorry he died when you were so young...that must've been hard." all she could do was smile that crooked, half-smile and hope for the best. she hadn't known how young exactly but she could tell he was young; that didn't mean the memory was any better. "it is hard, but i don't even know how she died. i just wish i could've said 'bye'. it was like, up until it was too late i didn't appreciate her." she could feel the tears coming now; but didn't stop them. "My mum and I are pretty close, actually. We lived with her parents for a few years after my dad died. They have a huge house in France but they don't really like kids, and mum and I aren't that fond of them either. So we moved back to England right before I started school." As he listened to Harmony's story, Wyatt realized how lucky he was to have his uncle in his life, and even his grandparents, for those nights when his mother worked late at the Ministry.
Silently, he wrapped his arm around her shoulders, trying to comfort her. "It's normal to feel guilty, but you really shouldn't. I mean, I'm sure your mum wouldn't want you to be crying about her all these years later, would she? If you can still remember the good times you had together, and try to forget the 'what ifs' than it will get easier. Look at me, it's been eleven years and I'm doing all right." Wyatt smiled a little. He wasn't sure anything he was saying was really making a difference, but he imagined it would be what his mother would say now.
(lol. no problem.)

harmony listened, nodding every now and then to ensure him that she was still paying attention. he's lucky.. she thought to herself; thinking back to the night when death eaters invaded the town. she'd barely escaped them; finding her dad later as he was leaving the ministry. thankfully harmony learned how to apparate at a young age even if she wasn't allowed. "that's good that you and your mum are close," mo smiled, it would've been terrible to be without a father or a mother. "cool, my dad and i live in london. that's where i was born, but we don't live in the same house anymore." harmony used to stay with friends before they found out she was a witch; then everything changed when neighborhood friends realized she was a 'freak'.
she felt his arm wrap around her shoulders, and felt comforted. it was always nice to know that someone was there for you when you were in trouble. being alone was never good for one's health. harmony listening to what he was saying, and it was true, she turned to face him, which wasn't too difficult. "you're right. mum wouldn't want me to be crying about her, she'd want me to live out the name. and i shouldn't think about those either." harmony smiled, showing some teeth, and glanced towards her guitar case hiding in the corner. that was how she'd spread the legacy of her mother. thanks, you know you really helped." he helped. but now it seemed fair to ask him if he wanted to talk, but he seemed happy so why ruin the mood? if he seemed sad later harmony would offer advice. she thought of a quite random topic and accidently said, "do you like music?" of course, don't get mo started on that one.

Wyatt's smile grew a bit when she said he'd helped. He'd always imagined himself taking over his uncle's shop when he got older. But he had to admit that it felt good to help people - whether by talking or making them laugh. "Glad I could be of assistance, milady," he said jokingly, taking his arm from around her shoulders and bowing slightly. He chuckled as he leaned back against the couch again.
"I love music. Mostly Muggle stuff though," he said excitedly. His naturally dark brown hair suddenly turned a medium red, making him sighed. "Sorry about that," Wyatt said, running a hand through his hair as it changed back to it's normal shade. "I didn't mean to show off or anything. It just kinda happens when I'm excited or happy or something like that." He shut up quickly as he knew he was on the verge of rambling. Plus, he really hated himself for showing his ability like he had. Being a show-off just wasn't who he was.

she watched as his smile grew larger and grinned. her grin broke into a laugh as he said 'glad i could be of assistance, milady.' harmony leaned against the arm of the couch. "me too!! i play the guitar and-" she stopped, not wanting to seem like she was proud of herself or anything. plus he might ask her to play and she might not do very well and mess up and he might laugh at her. mo eyed her guitar quickly before returning her gaze to him and her mouth flew open as his hair turned red for a split second. as he sighed and apologized, harmony opened her mouth to speak, "that's fine, but was a just imagining that?"
"it's okay..." she continued, seeing as he probably felt uncomfortable at the moment. harmony thought it was pretty cool that his hair turned colors and abruptly stood up, the blanket he lent her falling to the ground. she wanted to play that guitar, to feel the strings rub agianst her fingers, to hear that beautiful noise echo through the room. but she just couldn't. harmony sighed and tip-toed carefully towards the window, watching the snow fall. "wow, it's really snowing hard now." she was hiding something. well two things; the fact that her face held a blush.
and the fact that she might just have a crush on wyatt.

[ok, Iris and I worked out the plot. Even though Wyatt likes Natalie, he doesn't think she likes him. So he decides to start dating Harmony. Then, sometime during or after the ball, Nat realizes her feelings for Wyatt and tells him. Then he'll have to choose. We can switch things as we go along though.]
Wyatt watched her walk to the window and wondered what she was thinking. She didn't seem to be freaked out by his abilities and he was grateful that she didn't run out of the room. It wasn't that he didn't like changing his appearance. In fact, he was pretty sure that most people in Hufflepuff knew that he was a Metamorphmagus. But he hated not being in control of it. He wished it wasn't connected so closely to his emotions.
Standing up, he stretched his back and then joined Harmony at the window. "Oh, yeah. I love snow," he said, smiling as he watched the falling flakes. "This is my favorite time of year." He turned suddenly to look at her. She looked cute in the soft glow of the fire, he noted, but tried to push those thoughts to the back of his mind. "Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you mentioned being able to play the guitar back there. I would love to hear you play. I've always wanted to learn myself." His smile grew as he crossed his arms over his chest and watched her.

ooc; okay ^_^ sounds good thanks for working it out so i can be in it too!
xx my thoughts you can't decode
harmony looked up as he walked over, willing with all her might that the blush would go away. slowly, she could feel it leaving until her cheeks just seemed red because of the firelight. "me too, winter is so beauitiful. i love when the snow sticks to everything and it's like, a blanket of white." she paused, casting a longing gaze out of the window and into the night, when all that was visible were the snowflakes that slowly and serenely fell. mo felt his heart-warming gaze on her but didn't awknowlege it until he spoke, and he said he wanted her to play guitar. what if she messed it up? now with his gaze on her, she couldn't just refuse...that would be rude. "i can its very fun," harmony took a deep breath, "sure, i'll play a song for you."
she strode across the room nervously, saying to herself over and over again, you can do this, you can harmony took the guitar out gently, stroking the strings and she sat on the ground in front of the fire. harmony looking down at it, strumming the strings gently a few times (to make sure they worked ok) before taking another deep breathed. she closed her eyes and began playing a song she wrote, and without meaning to began to sing along with it, not starting at the beginning.
"somewhere weakness is our strength and i'll die searching for it i can't let myself regret such selfishness my pain and all the trouble cause not matter how long, i believe that there's hope burried beneath it all.." [/color][/blockquote]

Wyatt stood silently by the window, listening to Harmony and watching as she played. His smile stayed, even after she had finished. He applauded her briefly, before following her again. he stretched out on the carpet in front of the fireplace. Finally, when he was leaning on his arm, facing her, he spoke. "That was wonderful," he said honestly. "And you have a beautiful voice. I'm actually a little surprised. Six years we've known each other and not once have I seen this hidden talent of yours. Why is that?"
Lazily, Wyatt took out his wand - which he had forgotten he put in his pajama pocket before coming downstairs - and waved it at the abandoned pillow on the couch, making it fly over to him. He promptly put it under his head and arranged himself so that he was comfortably lying on his back, with his head turning to face Harmony. Then he waved his wand again, this time at the blanket, with flew over and wrapped itself around the girl's shoulders.

harmony looked up to see wyatt's face lit up with that charming smile and hear his hands clapping. she blushed and watched as he lay in front of her. harmony caught his eye and smiled, setting down the guitar carefully before returning her gaze to him. "thanks," mo replied, trying to contain the scarlet red blush that was quickly warming her cheeks, "usually everyone is. i dunno, i usually don't play where people can hear or see me." harmony traced one of the swirly patterns on the carpet with her left index finger slowly, her gaze following it.
she looked up at wyatt took out his wand and absentmindedly watched as he arranged himself comfortably on it before facing her again. harmony felt the abandoned blank drape itself on her shoulders and pulled it closer, trapping the heat so she wouldn't get cold. "thanks, again." harmony said, delicately putting away the old accoustic beauty. her brown-ish eyes focused themselves on wyatt again, seeming to penetrate his thoughts but really weren't. and all of a sudden it was completely quiet again, except for the sound of the two breathing. it was just so dang picture perfect. too bad fairy tales never worked for mo. she brushed a cherry red lock away from her face quickly. it's not gonna work, he likes someone else! harmony screamed to herself in her mind, she didn't know who he "liked" but it defidently wasn't her.
